THE ARTIST

Heather Morrison is a self taught, multidisciplinary artist and nurse practitioner based in Kentucky. With a background in neurology, she balances clinical practice with a dedicated art practice, creating paintings and process-based videos that invite quiet presence and emotional calm.

Through her creative process, she explores how visual environments—color, rhythm, softness, and pace—can influence how the body and mind feel in a space.

She creates with the intention of offering rest within a world that often moves too quickly. Both the finished artworks and the process-based videos are made slowly and deliberately, with attention to visual regulation rather than stimulation.

Heather’s approach is informed by clinical experience and an ongoing study in neuroscience and neuroaesthetics, a field that examines how sensory experiences such as art, light, movement, and pattern interact with the brain and nervous system. This perspective shapes how she thinks about composition, repetition, and restraint, as well as how an artwork lives in a physical environment.

Rather than asking for interpretation or reaction, her work invites quiet presence. She is interested in creating visual spaces that feel supportive—places where the nervous system can soften, and where attention is allowed to rest without effort.

The environments we move through matter. This belief guides both her creative process and the way she choses to share her work.

Her work has been featured in Parade of Homes events in Bowling Green, KY, and published in House Magazine, VIP Magazine, and SOKY Magazine. Her work has been collected across the United States and internationally.
